Ahead of UFC 242, Everlast partners with Dustin Poirier’s The Good Fight
This Saturday night at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi, interim UFC lightweight champion, Dustin Poirier competes in the biggest fight of his career. But before that, he’s continued to fight the good fight outside of the Octagon.
Premier Boxing and MMA fitness equipment brand, Everlast announced via press release on Thursday that they have partnered with Poirier’s The Good Fight foundation ahead of his big title bout with the undisputed champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov.
“Everlast Worldwide, the industry’s leader in fight sports equipment and apparel is joining forces with Dustin Poirier on making his charity, The Good Fight, the official charity of Everlast.
Started by Dustin Poirier and his wife Jolie, The Good Fight was born when the couple realized they had too much fight memorabilia from Dustin’s storied UFC career. Rather than box everything up for storage, the pair began auctioning off the items to raise money for local charities and initiatives in their own community of Lafayette, Louisiana. Inspired by the outpour of support, the Poirier’s started auctioning off Dustin’s full UFC fight kits, including shirts, trunks, gloves, and wraps, after each match. The first kit auctioned was from UFC 211 with all proceeds going to the Second Harvest Food Bank which provided 3,000 meals to shelters in their community.
The Good Fight, Powered by Everlast – looks to build on the great work Dustin & Jolie have done so far and scale the program with more campaigns and athletes around the world.
‘We are building a global movement of athletes who believe in fighting for more than just a win,’ says Chris Zoller, VP of Marketing and Product Development. ‘Dustin is an incredible fighter, but also an incredible person. Our goal is to add fuel to his fire and harness the power of sport to make a meaningful impact in the communities we fight for,’
The partnership will kick off with a campaign leading up to Dustin’s title fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov. The campaign will raise funding and awareness for the Fight for the Forgotten initiative to bring clean sustainable water system to the Pygmy people of Uganda. People can currently go to TheGoodFightGroup.com to donate towards this great cause.
‘I am a fighter. It’s what I do. I want to use my platform to fight for as many people as I can,’ said Dustin Poirier. ‘Partnering with a powerhouse brand like Everlast, who has already been in my corner for years, will make this platform even bigger,’
Everlast X The Good Fight plans to add additional athlete campaigns to the foundation in 2020, along with auctions for experiences, amazing products, and fundraising opportunities.”
Along with the press release was a personalized video message from “The Diamond” himself.
“I’m here with a huge announcement,” Poirier said. “My charity, The Good Fight foundation is going to be the official charity of Everlast. Make sure to go to TheGoodFightGroup.com. You can donate, check out what we’re doing next, keep checking back – I’ll be auctioning off my entire fight kit from UFC 242. All proceeds are going straight to The Good Fight and The Fight for the Forgotten cause we’re building a water well for the Pygmy people of Uganda. Join me and Everlast as we take on the good fight. Thank you all for the continued support. Let’s go!”
At UFC 242, if Poirier can manage to topple the currently 27-0 Nurmagomedov, it will extend his impressive winning streak to five straight and make him 10-1 (1 NC) since returning to the 155-pound division.
